Physical Development
According to the Creative Curriculum physical development includes children's gross (large muscle) motor and fine (small muscle) motor skills. Children use their ever developing motor skills to gain personal responsibility such as dressing themselves. As children gain motor skills, they also gain self confidence which helps them develop their social/emotional skills. Physical education in the early grades supports children's academic achievement, general health, self esteem, stress management, and social development. Brain research also states that moving the body wakes up the brain.
